What is a Cover?

Edited

Many popular songs are actually covers, but what does that mean?

A Cover is a new version of a song, made by someone other than the original artist. The original writer is always recognized as such, but there are occasions when a cover becomes more popular than the original! These tend to be made in an updated style, performed by a popular artist, or part of a viral trend.

In Suno, we've introduced Covers as a way for you to transform the style of an existing song while keeping the melody. This feature is in Beta, and currently only available for Pro and Premier users.

A few quick notes:

  • You can only use this feature for songs you created. It will not be available for you to use on another person's work.

  • This is a feature in progress, so we don't expect it to be perfect! It may take a few tries to get it just right.

  • Since we know you might have mixed results, the first batch of generations will be free (zero credits)!

How to use covers:

  • Visit your Library and find the song you'd like to cover

  • Click the triple-dot (More Actions) icon and hover over Create to find Cover Song

  • Add a new song style in Style of Music, update the title if needed, then click Create
